I started out by purchasing a drawing book from Michaels along with artist pencils, an eraser (I make a lot of mistakes), a fine point pen, and an extensive colored pencil box.
The first drawing I did, I made my model super squatty, not purposefully. Every sketch I have done from this point has only gotten better and better, as well as the final product.
I have learned that patience is key to a decent looking garment. This shirt took me about 5 days to make. Some days I worked on it for 5 hours at a time, some days I only had an hour or two. In all, this piece took me about 14 hours. This is including the amount of time it took me to figure out how to make button holes and sew buttons on.
I also did not create my own pattern for this outfit. I was still learning how to sew things together as well as how to use my new machine I got for Christmas.
