Happy National Spouse’s Day!
If you are married or in a serious relationship then you know how much work goes into making time for one another and finding fun things to do while on a budget.
Brit and I struggle with time and money management to this day.
Many times, a day in my life looks like this—
6am – wake up
6:30am – finally get out of bed & shower
7:30am – head to work
4pm – come home from work
4pm until 9pm – lay on the couch with the tv on and my computer on my lap and probably buy something I don’t even need but saw an add for online and HAD TO HAVE (which I am currently doing while watching HG TV— I just love Property Brothers!)
9pm – go to bed & repeat
I always use the excuse “well, I’ve been at work all day so I deserve to lay on the couch the rest of the night” or my favorite excuse, “I will be more productive tomorrow” when I know darn well that I most definitely will not.
It’s hard work being productive and getting off your butt! I’m as guilty as anyone when it comes to procrastination. I am THE QUEEN of putting things off until the last minute or just never doing them. So when it comes to putting in the work and effort in my marriage, I find excuses for that as well; “let’s just stay in and watch a movie”, “let’s stay in and save money”. But what ends up happening is I will watch TV and Brit will be catching up on her friend’s lives via Facebook all night.
It’s so easy to do nothing or make up excuses as to why the only reason to get off the couch is to use the bathroom.
Date nights are something that have slowly been becoming less and less in my life. Staying in is so much cheaper than going out.
But the excuses stop here!
I have put together a list of 20 date night ideas that don’t cost a thing. No more excuse of not doing anything in an attemp to save money. Many of these date ideas you can even do in the comfort of your own home while wearing your pajamas all day — that’s my favorite kind of date!
